Broke Into The Old Apartment...
This Is Where We Used To Live.

So, I realized today that I've had this LJ since 2002. In seven years, I really haven't posted much. Just an observation.
I picked up a copy of Shatner's Biography, 'Up Till Now' in the bargain section of Chapters. I also snagged an illustrated hard cover copy of Hawking's 'A Brief History of Time' and 'The Universe in a Nutshell.' I remember seeing a copy of Hawking's aBHoT at a family friend's house. Nick Kittl was a great friend and mentor who taught me how to program on his Atari 800XL. He lived on my grandmother's street and I spent many many days talking, computing and singing with him and his family at his house and on their porch. He was a math teacher and a great inspiration. Nick was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and was forced to retire early. The Nick that I knew was a vibrant and brilliant man. As he and I grew older, we saw each other less and less - on the few occasions when I did see him, it became increasingly difficult to communicate with him because of his slurred speech. The thought of his mind being trapped inside of a slow body saddened me. I didn't attend his funeral. I'm still not sure how I feel about this. Sure, I was busy with school and work, but should I have made the trip to St. Catharines and taken the time? Who's a funeral for, anyways - the dead, or the living?
I also picked up a copy of Richard Dawkins' The God Delusion. I've listened to the audiobook and seen some of his documentaries. His reason/Darwinian-based approach to life and it's inherent beauty in science really make alot of sense to me.
I begin my teaching in September. Really excited to have my own voice and piano studio and to make some real money. I'll also be singing my first Messiah in December. Go go Gadget resume.
